THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY ON JOBS TOUR VISITS MOHEGAN SUN & FOXWOODS TO DISCUSS TOURISM
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will continue his Jobs Tour with a visit to Mohegan Sun, followed by a visit with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods Resort Casino. At each of the locations, Governor Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Deputy Commissioner Christopher "Kip" Bergstrom will meet and tour the facilities with the executives and staff to discuss the role of casino resort destinations in the tourism industry and the state's economic development strategy. The tourism industry is one of the top five producers of jobs in the State of Connecticut.
The two casinos are the largest in North America and have world-class resorts. The sovereign Mohegan Tribe employs over 9,000 people, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods employs more than 10,000 people.
