TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL 9/11 FLAG RESTORATION CEREMONY
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join FDNY firefighters and other local first responders for the
National 9/11 Flag
restoration ceremony at the Old State House in Hartford. Destroyed in the aftermath of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2011, the flag has been touring all 50 states where pieces of fabric from U.S. flags destined for retirement in each state have been stitched together to bring the flag back to its original 13-stripe format. The retired flag from Connecticut was flown over the State Capitol building. When complete, the flag will become a part of the permanent collection of the National September 11 Memorial Museum being built at the World Trade Center.
