Appointment Will Increase State's Economic Development Visibility Around Country
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy has been appointed to serve on the Economic Development and Commerce Committee of the National Governors Association, a position he says he will use to increase Connecticut's national visibility to encourage businesses to locate and stay here.
"The way we will generate jobs in Connecticut is to send a message, not just in this country, but around the world, that our state is open for business," Governor Malloy said. "Each decision I make is a step toward the goal of increasing economic development in Connecticut, and - just as I'm doing with every task at hand - I will use this appointment to bring us closer to that objective."
The committee has jurisdiction over a broad range of issues including transportation and infrastructure, financial services, housing and community development, and economic development and trade.
"I am excited to work with the nation's governors on this group and focus a national spotlight on Connecticut's businesses, industries, housing, and community development," Governor Malloy said.
The National Governors Association is a bipartisan organization of the nation's governors that promotes visionary state leadership, shares best practices and speaks with a unified voice on national policy. For more information, visit
