Transition Team 2010
December 30, 2010
(Hartford, CT) - Governor-Elect Dan Malloy and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Nancy Wyman today announced that they are welcoming Connecticut residents to Hartford to attend the inaugural ceremony, which will take place on January 5, 2011.
The ceremony, which will be held at the Hartford Armory (360 Broad Street, Hartford), is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at noon, and the ceremony begins at 2 p.m. Everyone must be seated by 1:30 p.m. People who plan on attending should arrive early, and anticipate a moderate walk from area parking lots and garages to the Hartford Armory. Additionally, parking will be available at Dillon Stadium (250 Huyshope Avenue, Hartford) and busses will take people from the stadium to the Armory. Because of the inaugural parade, attendees should also anticipate road closures around the Capitol.
"Nancy and I are excited to begin this next chapter, and want to share it with as many Connecticut residents as we can," said Governor-Elect Malloy.
"There's a lot of work to do - no doubt about it - and sometimes it's difficult for people across the state to feel connected to their elected representatives. This free, open-to-the-public event is a good reminder of all the energy, commitment and promise we have as a state."
"The response we've received from people interested in being a part of this historic event has been overwhelming," said Lieutenant Governor-Elect Wyman.
"We moved it to a larger space to accommodate as many people as possible, and we're looking forward to spending time with people from one end of the state to the other, who believe as we do, that we can get things right once again."
