GOVERNOR-ELECT MALLOY MEETS WITH CONNECTICUT CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION IN WASHINGTON

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor-Elect Dan Malloy, in Washington to meet with Obama Administration officials, including Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Department of Energy Undersecretary Cathy Zoi, Governors and fellow Governors-Elect, met Thursday morning with the entire Connecticut Congressional Delegation in Senator Chris Dodd's office in the Capitol.

"This will be the first of many meetings I have with members of our Congressional Delegation in Washington and in Connecticut," said Governor-Elect Malloy. "I cannot stress enough how important it is that we all have open lines of communication that work in both ways. Senator Dodd hosted this meeting up because he understands how critical it is to have elected officials in Hartford and in Washington who are working together and moving in the same direction on behalf of the people of this state."

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and Congressmen John Larson, Joe Courtney, Chris Murphy and Jim Himes, along with Senators Chris Dodd, and Joe Lieberman met with Governor-Elect Malloy to talk about rail funding, Medicaid reimbursement rates, the extension of unemployment benefits, education reform and the $100 million for the UConn Health Center.

"We're going to lose a great deal of seniority in the Senate when Chris Dodd leaves office in January, but although we're a small delegation, we're a strong one," said Governor-Elect Malloy. "This meeting helped us make sure we were all starting off on the same page in terms of priorities and ways to ensure Connecticut gets as much help from the federal government as possible. I have no bigger priority than helping to create new jobs in the state, while keeping the ones we have, and getting Connecticut's fiscal house in order. I can't do that alone, and I'm going to look to our Congressional Delegation to help me make our case down in Washington."
