GOVERNOR-ELECT MALLOY: NONE OF THE FORECASTS DESCRIBE THE CT I WANT TO BUILD

November 18, 2010

(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor-Elect Dan Malloy today responded to an economic forecast presented at the New England Economic Partnership, which predicts unemployment in Connecticut in 2011 will remain at 9% on average.

"Forecasts are forecasts, and I certainly respect how smart people can reach different conclusions, especially in the extraordinarily volatile economic climate we're in. The fact is, none of the forecasts describe the Connecticut I want to help build. The only way we can reduce that volatility is by establishing a clear vision, informed by top minds, setting a straight path forward and staying on task until we reach our goal. My number one priority as Governor is to create new jobs, keep the ones we have, and get our fiscal house in order. Some forecasts will be more favorable than others, but I won't rest until we get our state back on track."
