Gov. Malloy Plans Major Renovation of Area Surrounding the Charter Oak Bridge to Reduce Traffic Congestion on I-91N in Hartford
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the adopted FY 2016/2017 state budget includes funding to begin a major renovation of the area surrounding the Charter Oak Bridge in Hartford in order to alleviate a frequent traffic bottleneck that for years has been a source of congestion on I-91 North, often leading to motor vehicle accidents and traffic delays. Plans for the renovated highway will provide a more efficient connection from I-91 North to I-84 East.

Gov. Malloy Announces CTfastrak to Expand East of the River Into East Hartford and Manchester
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined elected officials from the Greater Hartford region to announce that the adopted FY 2016/2017 biennial budget includes funding to expand CTfastrak east of the Connecticut River into East Hartford and Manchester. The bus rapid transit system currently has ten stations along the 9.4 mile bus-only roadway, which extends between New Britain, Newington, West Hartford and Hartford, partly along abandoned rail line and existing Amtrak rail line.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Ranked Tenth Healthiest State for Seniors
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Jewel Mullen, and Department on Aging Commissioner Elizabeth Ritter today announced that a new report ranks Connecticut as the tenth healthiest state for seniors, rising from twelfth place last year, according to the third edition of United Health Foundation's America's Health Rankings 2015 Senior Report.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy is applauding the final, unanimous vote in the State Senate of legislation that he introduced that will help curb heroin and prescription opioid abuse through increasing the effectiveness of the state's prescription monitoring program, continued education requirements for practitioners, and greater availability of the overdose reversing drug naloxone in case of emergency.

Friday: Gov. Malloy Makes Announcement Regarding Upgrades to the I-95, I-91 Interchange in New Haven
On Friday at noon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will hold a news conference to give updates on major upgrades that are being made to the I-95/I-91 interchange in New Haven. The project is part of a $2 billion, multi-modal transportation improvement plan that is the largest, most comprehensive construction project ever undertaken by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The Governor will be joined by DOT Commissioner James P. Redeker.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy is applauding the final passage of legislation he introduced that was designed to narrow wage gaps among Connecticut's workforce by halting "pay secrecy" - a practice among employers that frequently hinders pay discrimination from being pinpointed. The bill, which was approved in the House of Representatives last week, received a favorable vote in the Senate this afternoon and next moves to the Governor's desk for his signature.
