Gov. Malloy Directs State Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of State Representative Betty Boukus
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is directing the flag of the State of Connecticut to fly at half-staff in honor of State Representative Betty Boukus (D-New Britain, Plainville), who passed away early this morning. State flags should be lowered beginning immediately until sunset on the date of interment, which has not yet been determined.

Gov. Malloy Announces Commissioner Murray to Leave Department of Developmental Services Early Next Year
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has been informed by Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Commissioner Morna Murray that she intends to depart from her position with the agency early next year to pursue other professional opportunities. Commissioner Murray, who joined the administration in February 2015, will continue to serve in her current capacity and oversee a transition period prior to her departure.

Gov. Malloy and Congressional Delegation Announce Connecticut Awarded Competitive Federal Grant to Expand High-Quality Preschool
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation today announced that the State of Connecticut has been awarded nearly $11.7 million in discretionary federal funding in the third year of funding through the Preschool Development Grant, which aims to expand high-quality preschool. The funding was awarded by the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services through a competitive grant process and was announced today by Education Secretary John B. King.

Gov. Malloy and Dept. of Transportation Debut New Snow Plows That Can Clear Two Highway Lanes in One Single Pass
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker today debuted the state’s new fleet of three tow-behind plows that are capable of clearing snow and ice from two full highway lanes in a single pass. Towed in the rear of a truck, the plows measure 26 feet in length, essentially doubling the width of a single plow truck when in operation, and will boost the state’s overall handling of winter maintenance and snow-clearing operations on state roads.

Gov. Malloy Announces Funding to Continue Connecticut's Popular Rebate Program for Electric Vehicles
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that due to the ongoing success of a consumer rebate program he launched last year to promote the sale of electric vehicles (EVs), an additional $2.7 million in new funding is being made available to continue this popular initiative. He made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Connecticut International Auto Show in Hartford, which brings together dozens of manufacturers and car dealers to showcase their latest models being offered to consumers, including many EVs.

Gov. Malloy Announces Completion of Q-Bridge/I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program

Malloy, Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James Redeker and other officials today announced the substantial completion of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program, a multi-modal transportation project designed to increase capacity and safety and reduce congestion in the area. As of today, all major roadwork has been completed and travel lanes opened for use.

Gov. Malloy Congratulates the Conn. Department of Transportation on Receiving Top Prize for Q Bridge Project at National Competition
Governor Dannel P. Malloy is congratulating the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) for earning the Grand Prize at the 2016 America’s Transportation Awards competition in recognition of the agency’s successful work on creating the new Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge in New Haven. The state was honored with the top prize in the national competition, which attracted a record 84 project nominees from 39 state transportation departments plus the District of Columbia.
