STATE of CONNECTICUT
DISTINGUISHED MANAGERIAL SERVICE AWARDS

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Distinguished Managerial Service Awards.  Any individual or organization may nominate a current or former Connecticut state manager, including retirees.

The program, originally established by the Department of Administrative Services upon the recommendation of the Management Advisory Council, is now solely sponsored by the Connecticut Management Advisory Council.

The Distinguished Managerial Service Award program presents an excellent opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of your fellow managers.  Awards will be presented at State Managers Day, which is being held on October 3, 2008.

Nominations

Nominations are made by submitting the 2008 CONNECTICUT DISTINGUISHED MANAGERIAL SERVICE AWARD NOMINATION FORM [RTF 19KB] to the Service Award Selection Committee.

The deadline for submittal is Friday, August 15, 2008. Mailing instructions are included with the form.

The selection criteria are:

  1. The nominee’s service to his/her agency
  2. The nominee’s service to the people served by the agency
  3. The nominee’s record of career growth and development
  4. Volunteer services performed by the nominee
  5. Any additional information the nominator believes is important

Nominations may be made using some or all of the criteria listed above.  Managers may be nominated for distinguished service or accomplishments taking place within a limited period of time, such as a special or major project, as well as for consistently distinguished service over a longer period of career service within state government.

There is no set formula given to any of the criteria.  The Awards Committee will examine each nomination on its merits.  It is recommended that each nominator make his/her nomination as complete as possible.

Review by the Awards Committee

An Awards Committee is established annually by the Management Advisory Council to review nominations and recommend awards.  Each year MAC selects an Award Committee from its membership.

When the Awards Committee receives a nomination, they will advise the nominee, as well as the nominee’s agency head as a matter of courtesy.
