Theme

This year's theme, "Stronger Councils, Stronger Connections, Stronger Communities," recognizes that meaningful change begins when residents come together and continue working together. Throughout the day, participants will explore practical strategies for strengthening resident councils, building productive relationships with facility leadership, and creating communities where every resident has the opportunity to be heard, respected, and involved.

In addition to educational sessions and resident-led discussions, attendees will hear about new opportunities for resident councils to partner with facility administrators to identify shared concerns, develop creative solutions, and strengthen quality of life within their communities.

Whether you are an experienced Resident Council President, a newly elected council leader, or support resident councils in your facility, we hope you will join us for this inspiring day of learning, networking, and collaboration.

About the Voices Forum

The VOICES Forum, sponsored by the Connecticut Long Term Care Ombudsman Program in partnership with the Statewide Coalition of Presidents of Resident Councils, is an annual gathering where Resident Council Presidents from across Connecticut come together. This event provides a platform to discuss pressing issues, share experiences, and work collectively towards enhancing the quality of care and life in long-term care facilities.

Who Should Attend?

We invite:

  • Resident Council Presidents (RCP) or Vice Presidents (RCVP) from each facility.
  • Ambassador Delegates: If the RCP or RCVP cannot attend, another council member may represent them.
  • Assistance: If needed, one staff member may accompany the resident to assist with activities of daily living. Due to this being a resident-centered event, staff may not attend without a resident representative.
