Countdown to VOICES Forum

If the countdown does not display, visit the VOICES Forum 2026 countdown page.

Theme

This year's theme, “Stronger Councils, Stronger Connections, Stronger Communities,” recognizes that meaningful change begins when residents come together and continue working together. Throughout the day, participants will explore practical strategies for strengthening resident councils, building productive relationships with facility leadership, and creating communities where every resident has the opportunity to be heard, respected, and involved.

In addition to educational sessions and resident-led discussions, attendees will hear about new opportunities for resident councils to partner with facility administrators to identify shared concerns, develop creative solutions, and strengthen quality of life within their communities.

Whether you are an experienced Resident Council President, a newly elected council leader, or support resident councils in your facility, we hope you will join us for a day of learning, networking, and collaboration.

About VOICES Forum

The VOICES Forum, sponsored by the Connecticut Long Term Care Ombudsman Program in partnership with the Statewide Coalition of Presidents of Resident Councils, is an annual gathering where Resident Council Presidents from across Connecticut come together. The forum provides an opportunity to discuss pressing issues, share experiences, and work collectively to enhance quality of care and quality of life in long-term care facilities.

Who should attend?

  • Resident Council Presidents or Vice Presidents: One representative from each facility is encouraged to attend.
  • Designated Resident Council representatives: If the Resident Council President or Vice President cannot attend, another council member may represent them.
  • Staff support person: Each resident representative may bring one staff guest to provide assistance with activities of daily living or other needed support. Because this is a resident-centered event, staff may not attend without a resident representative.

Resident registration

Resident Council Presidents and other designated Resident Council leaders are encouraged to attend. The Resident Council President should attend whenever possible. If the President cannot attend, a Council member designated by the President may attend instead.

Each resident representative may bring one staff guest through the resident registration process. The staff guest should be the aide or staff member who will provide any hands-on care or other assistance the resident needs during the event.

Registration deadline: Monday, September 22, 2026.

Register a resident representative for VOICES Forum 2026

Administrators are invited

For the first time, nursing home administrators are invited to participate as registered VOICES attendees. Administrators can join residents in conversations about strengthening collaboration between Resident Council leadership and facility leadership, improving communication, and creating stronger communities.

Administrators must register separately from the resident registration process. An administrator may attend only if a Resident Council leader or representative from the same facility is also registered and attending.

Administrator registration details

  • Registration coordinator: LeadingAge Connecticut & Rhode Island
  • Registration fee: $58
  • Included: Admission and lunch
  • Payment: Registration is a commitment to pay in full
  • Attendance requirement: The administrator must be accompanied by a registered Resident Council leader or representative from the same facility.
