(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is ordering an activation of the Connecticut Emergency Operations Center (EOC) ahead of the forecasted nor’easter that is anticipated to deliver heavy rain and strong winds across Connecticut and the northeast region throughout the weekend.
The EOC will enter enhanced monitoring mode effective at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026. It will then enter a partial activation mode effective at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, with state agency staff and partner liaisons providing in-person support. Additionally, a virtual component will be available for partners to provide the EOC with real-time information. The EOC will remain activated 24/7 throughout the duration of the storm.
As of Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued Wind Advisories for all of Connecticut starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, and remaining through the morning of Sunday, September 27, 2026. Additionally, Coastal Flood Warnings have been issued for Fairfield and New Haven Counties, and Coastal Flood Advisories have been issued for Middlesex and New London Counties, effective at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, and continuing until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The state’s emergency management team has held coordination calls, including with every municipality statewide, to prepare for any possibility the storm may deliver.
“We are closely monitoring the track of this storm and any potential impacts it may have in Connecticut and are preparing with our partners, including municipalities, utilities, and others,” Governor Lamont said. “While the track of this storm is still developing, I encourage everyone in Connecticut to be prepared and stay alert for updates throughout this weekend as conditions progress, especially in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, where areas of coastal flooding are possible. There is a possibility that these strong winds can bring down trees and limbs, blocking roads and causing outages. I also want to remind everyone to never drive through any flooded roadway—even if the water does not look that deep—because even just a few inches of water can stall and carry vehicles away.”
The EOC is the state’s central emergency management hub, where state leaders, agencies, and partners coordinate information, resources, and strategies to manage emergency situations. It is located in the Governor William A. O’Neill State Armory in Hartford.
Under the state’s emergency management plan, a partial activation means that EOC partners from several of the primary state agencies that are responsible for managing emergency situations will be coordinating continually during the storm. A full activation, should it be needed, requires additional state agencies to participate. Those agencies remain on standby and are providing assistance as needed.
