(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont is advising Connecticut residents to use caution on the evening of Monday, July 6, 2026, and going into the morning of Tuesday, July 7, 2026, as the state is experiencing heavy rains that may cause flash flooding in certain areas.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of Connecticut effective from now until the afternoon of Tuesday, July 7. There is a potential that Flash Flood Warnings could also be issued during this period.
Under Governor Lamont’s direction, Connecticut’s emergency management team has been monitoring conditions throughout the day and has been prepared to respond to any emergency situations, as needed. The governor held a statewide conference call with municipal leaders this morning to prepare coordination activities.
“This is a long-duration, heavy rain event that may cause localized flooding in certain areas, and we are advising everyone to stay informed, keep your mobile devices fully charged, and use caution, especially on Monday night and going into Tuesday morning,” Governor Lamont said. “Although crews have been able to clear most of the debris from the roads that was caused by the storm we had on the Fourth of July, that weather event left the ground pretty saturated, and this additional rain is likely to result in even more downed trees. Crews will remain out on the roads to clear any damage, but we want to urge everyone to use caution if you need to drive. As always, if you approach downed wires stay far away from them, and never attempt to drive through a flooded section of roadway, even if it doesn’t appear that deep, because even a few inches of water can cause a vehicle to stall or be swept away.”
Connecticut’s utility companies have informed the state that additional crews from Canada arrived in Connecticut on Monday afternoon to assist with recovery from power outages that were caused by Saturday’s storm. These out-of-state crews will remain in Connecticut throughout the duration of today’s storm to assist with any additional outages that may occur.
