Governor Lamont and Lt. Governor Bysiewicz Congratulate Connecticut Athletes Competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz are congratulating the athletes from Connecticut who have qualified to compete in the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and are wishing them the best in their competitions.

The Winter Olympics begins February 6 and runs through February 22.

“I am extraordinarily proud of the athletes from Connecticut who have proven themselves to be among the best in their respective sports and qualified to compete in the world’s biggest athletic competition,” Governor Lamont said. “These hometown athletes who will be representing Team USA on an international stage have shown dedication, perseverance, strength, and resilience. I want each of them to know that we will be cheering them on back home in Connecticut, and we are all wishing them the very best of luck in Italy.”

“These athletes from our state have accomplished truly remarkable feats in their respective sports, and I am incredibly proud that they will be representing Team USA during the 2026 Winter Olympics,” Lt. Governor Bysiewicz said. “I, along with the rest of Connecticut, will be rooting for them every step of the way. These athletes embody the ambition, devotion, and excellence of Connecticut residents. Good luck to Austin, Olivia, Kristen, and Tage!”

Members of Team USA who are from Connecticut and have qualified to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics includes:

  • Austin Florian – Skeleton (Southington, Connecticut)
  • Olivia Giaccio – Freestyle Skiing (Redding, Connecticut)
  • Kristen Santos-Griswold – Speedskating, Short Track Speedskating (Fairfield, Connecticut)
  • Tage Thompson – Ice Hockey (Orange, Connecticut)

NOTE: This list is based on the location the athletes listed as their “hometown” on the questionnaires each athlete provided to the Team USA organization.
