(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont released the following statement regarding today’s U.S. Supreme Court oral arguments in California v. Texas, which challenges the Affordable Care Act:
“The Affordable Care Act has been a clear and obvious success here in Connecticut and around the country. Connecticut’s health insurance exchange has been viewed as a model when the ACA went into effect, and to this day it is considered a national leader providing consumers affordable plans that best meet their families’ needs. The effort to repeal it has been a priority of Republicans in Washington since the day it was signed into law, sending a message to families across America that they are totally comfortable with the economic and health uncertainty that living without health insurance represents. The Supreme Court has upheld the law in the past, and it is my hope the same result is reached by this court. Striking down the Affordable Care Act would be a tragic setback. Instead of legislating through the courts, Republicans in Congress should join with Democrats to make further progress reducing costs and expanding access to quality healthcare.”
