(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner David Lehman released the following statements regarding the announcement made today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis that real gross domestic product (GDP) in Connecticut increased by 2.1 percent during the third quarter of 2019:
Governor Lamont said, “Our improved economic performance in the third quarter of 2019 is more good news for Connecticut. I am determined to continue working with our business leaders to further drive inclusive growth through the coming years and create more job opportunities for the people of our state.”
Commissioner Lehman said, “Connecticut’s third quarter 2019 GDP growth of 2.1 percent, driven in part by strong manufacturing activity, is a big improvement over the 1 percent realized in the second quarter and an indicator of our economy gaining momentum. The Lamont administration’s ongoing efforts to stabilize state finances and reduce our reliance on debt are critical to continued investment and sustained long-term economic growth.”
