(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that – in accordance with a presidential proclamation directing flags to be lowered throughout the country as a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding public service of U.S. Representative Elijah E. Cummings of Baltimore, Maryland – U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset beginning immediately until sunset on Friday, October 18, 2019.
Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.
“With the passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings, we have lost a powerful force for good, a man of integrity and courage, and fierce champion of civil rights,” Governor Lamont said. “His passing is a terrible loss for our country.”
