Governor Lamont on the Retirement of Jeffrey Geiger from Electric Boat and Appointment of Kevin Graney as President

9/14/2019

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today released the following statement regarding the announcement that Jeffrey S. Geiger, who has served as president of Electric Boat since 2013, will retire effective September 30, and General Dynamics NASSCO president Kevin Graney will be appointed as his successor:

“Not only is Electric Boat an esteemed part of Connecticut’s heritage, but the company is widely considered one of the nation’s leading defense manufacturers and plays a major part in supporting U.S. military operations. We must tip our hats to Jeffrey Geiger, whose leadership and dedicated commitment to the workers of southeastern Connecticut has helped propel the company forward for over a generation. I thank him for his service and wish him well in retirement.

“Over the last decade, we’ve seen a number of contracts awarded to Connecticut companies to meet the needs of the national defense supply chain. This is because the men and women of Connecticut’s manufacturing sector – including at Electric Boat and its in-state contractors – have a reputation for delivering quality products that are second-to-none.

“Working with our Congressional delegation, I am committed to continuing the growth of defense manufacturing in Connecticut well into the next generation. I am eager to sit down with Kevin Graney to assure him that our state remains a partner with Electric Boat. We want large contractors like Electric Boat to have available to them the skilled labor force that is trained to meet the demands of developing the new technologies and products that will secure critical defense contracts and foster the growth of high-quality, good-paying jobs in our state.”
