(HARTFORD, CT) – A speech – and now audio essay – written by Governor Ned Lamont on separating fact from fiction before entering war is the subject of the latest episode of “Grating the Nutmeg,” a podcast on Connecticut history produced by Connecticut Explored, a magazine on state history, and State Historian Walt Woodward.

The governor’s speech, titled “100 years of Fake News and Real and Fake Wars” is a cautionary tale, emphasizing the need for people – both elected officials and civilians – to ensure they are receiving information from a variety of reliable sources before making up their minds on critical decisions, especially when it comes to issues of war.
On the podcast, Governor Lamont reads the speech in its entirety, which is followed by a discussion among the governor, Woodward, and Connecticut Explored assistant publisher Mary Donohue. It was recorded earlier this month inside the governor’s office at the State Capitol in Hartford.
