Governor Ned Lamont, along with the leaders of the Connecticut General Assembly, including Senate President Pro Tempore Martin Looney, Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz, Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff, House Majority Leader Matt Ritter, and the co-chairs of the Appropriations and Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committees, today announced that they have reached an agreement on a biennial state budget that closes the inherited $3.7 billion deficit days ahead of schedule.

Governor Ned Lamont is applauding the Connecticut State Senate for unanimously voting last night to approve legislation he proposed in consultation with stakeholders that will improve data collection in the criminal justice system in order to provide the public with greater information regarding how prosecutors make decisions in criminal cases. These include the screening and charging of cases, pretrial and bail recommendations, diversion to programs, case processing, plea negotiations, and sentencing recommendations.

Governor Ned Lamont this morning signed legislation he championed alongside a number of state legislators that will increase the minimum hourly wage in Connecticut to $15.00 through a series of gradual increases over the next several years, with the first one taking place this October. After the scheduled increases take effect, the new law requires the minimum wage to grow according to federal economic indicators, so everyone can continue to share in Connecticut’s prosperity.
