(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he has scheduled April 16, 2019 as the date to hold a special election to fill a vacancy for state representative in the 19th Assembly District of the Connecticut House of Representatives, which consists of portions of Avon, Farmington, and West Hartford.
The seat became vacant following the resignation of State Representative Derek Slap, who won a special election this week to fill a vacancy in the State Senate.
Under state law, the governor is required to issue a writ of special election within ten days of a vacancy in the General Assembly and a special election must be held exactly 46 days after the date the writ was issued. Governor Lamont issued the writs today.
