(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that – in accordance with a proclamation from President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. directing flags to be lowered throughout the country as a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the mass shooting yesterday in Boulder, Colorado – he is directing U.S. and state flags in Connecticut to fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on Saturday, March 27, 2021.
Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the U.S. flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered during this same duration of time.
“The group of families, communities, and victims of gun violence has been growing for years, and we are all too familiar here in Connecticut,” Governor Lamont said. “This latest tragedy at the hands of an individual with a gun is a reminder that more action is needed to prevent our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents from being senselessly murdered. Yesterday it was a grocery store, but in the past it has been movie theaters, schools, synagogues, churches, and nightclubs. Here in Connecticut, we continue to take the necessary steps to save lives and protect loved ones and we are calling on all elected officials to do the same.”
