Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia Data and Surveillance

Data and surveillance are one of six goals under Connecticut’s state plan to address Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). The objectives of data and surveillance are to maintain and enhance a statewide ADRD surveillance system, analyze and publish ADRD-related data, and identify populations disproportionately affected by ADRD. Moreover, the purpose of ADRD Surveillance and Epidemiology team is to provide the most recent and reliable data on Connecticut's high-risk populations for ADRD and to identify ADRD health disparities and trends that stakeholders can use to help them guide program initiatives and interventions.

The content of data and surveillance webpage is organized into 2 sections: 1) Fact Sheet- provides concise and easy to digest information about a specific topic on brain health data and 2) Statistics- provides more detailed tables on the topics of subjective cognitive decline, Alzheimer's disease and related dementia morbidity and mortality, and caregiving.

Among those with subjective cognitive decline, percentage that:

ADRD-related hospitalization and emergency department visit annual rates are based on Connecticut Hospital Discharge Dataset and Connecticut annual population estimates.
