In FFY 2002, the CT DPH, in collaboration with the CT Department of Environmental Protection (CT DEP), received a planning grant from the CDC to begin developing Connecticut’s portion of the national Environmental Public Health Tracking Network. The first step in this process was to convene the CT Environmental Public Health Tracking Consortium to provide recommendations for planning and implementing the Network in Connecticut. The Consortium completed its work with the publication of the final report, “A New Strategic Direction: A Plan to Implement Environmental Public Health Tracking in Connecticut” in 2005.
In 2006, Connecticut applied for and received an additional five years of funding to begin implementing the state Environmental Public Health Tracking network. The focus of work during this funding cycle will be to begin integrating existing health and environmental data systems to allow for ongoing tracking activities
