“This project will enhance safety, mobility, and access for all road users,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Jonathan Corilla. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team as the project moves through the final design process.”

A section of U.S. Route 1 between Rennell Drive and Beaumont Streetwill be restriped to a 3-lane roadway with a center two-way left turn lane. Additional safety improvements, such as traffic control signal adjustments and upgrades, sidewalk repairs, sidewalk ramp modifications and upgrades, curb improvements, and storm drainage structure top replacements will be incorporated into the project.

Right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed project are not anticipated.

Construction is anticipated to begin in summer 2025 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $1.83 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 90% federal funds and 10% state funds.
