Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry Closes for the 2022 Season

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced that the historic Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry is closed for the remainder of the 2022 ferry season.

The Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry was set to continue operations until November 30, but service had to end earlier than anticipated due to ongoing mechanical issues.

The Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry is the nation’s oldest continuously operating ferry. It travels between Rocky Hill and Glastonbury on the Connecticut River. The ferry is the only crossing between Hartford and Middletown for cyclists, providing them with access and a shorter route between the two towns.

The Chester-Hadylme Ferry will continue to operate until the season ends on November 30. It is subject to service interruptions due to weather conditions, water levels, or mechanical issues. Any closures or delays will be posted on the real-time travel and traffic website CTroads.org.
