Can I receive unemployment benefits if I am a professional athlete?

Read time: 6 minutes

You will not be eligible for unemployment benefits if all or most of your paid base-period work is:

  • Preparing for or participating in sports or athletic events
  • And you have reasonable assurance you will do the same in the upcoming season

Only wages earned from non-professional sports participation can be used to determine eligibility.
