Can I file for unemployment benefits even though I’m not a U.S. citizen?

Read time: 6 minutes

If you are not a U.S. citizen, you must have “legal alien” status while earning wages in Connecticut. You may be required to provide proof when you file a new claim, including personal information that is verified through the government. If you don’t provide this information, your claim may be denied.
