TVTP Training Opportunities
TERO: Threat Evaluation and Reporting Overview (3 Hours): Participants will learn about the risk factors, triggers and stressors, and warning behaviors that could impact a person's decision to commit an act of targeted violence. Participants will learn about the mitigating factors that could help prevent acts of targeted violence, and the importance of community involvement in seeking help for individuals, respecting their privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. TERO is an awareness level course for all community members. This program was developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is delivered by certified Master Trainers.

B-TERC: Basic Threat Evaluation and Reporting Course (8 Hours): Participants will define targeted violence, outline the Pathway to Violence Model and the four-step Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Model, understand how to identify threats or observable behaviors that may concern others while adhering to individual’s constitutional rights, privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties, and recognize the community role in targeted violence prevention. B-TERC is intended for professionals and volunteers who may regularly observe threats or behaviors that may concern others. This program was developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is delivered by certified Master Trainers.

TERC: Threat Evaluation and Reporting Course (24 Hours): Participants will define and understand the history of targeted violence, identify the elements and the purpose of the Pathway to Violence Model and learn to apply the four-step Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Model while adhering to individual’s constitutional rights, privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. TERC is intended for professionals tasked with analyzing and mitigating threats or observable behaviors that may concern others.
