DEMHS Region 1
DEMHS Region 1, which encompasses fourteen (14) municipalities in Southwest Connecticut, is the gateway to the New York Metropolitan area from New England and home to commuters who work in the New York City Metropolitan area. According to 2020 DPH Statistics, the combined population of the 14 towns in Region 1 is 714,024 plus a substantial daily incoming commuting population. Additionally, the total land area of all the towns is 371 sq. miles. Region 1 contains one of the busiest transportation corridors in the country which includes I-95 and Metro North/Amtrak. Each DEMHS Region has a Regional Emergency Planning Team (REPT). The Region 1 REPT is the coordinating committee for all regional activities.
