Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. The State Mosquito Management Program is warning Connecticut residents about the risk of infection by eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile virus (WNV) this season. As of early September 2023, the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station has detected EEE-infected mosquitoes in Hampton, Killingly, Thompson, Tolland, Voluntown, and Woodstock. Information on EEE and WNV, mosquito bite prevention, mosquito test results, and human infection updates can be found on the Connecticut Mosquito Management Program website at https://portal.ct.gov/mosquito.

PLEASE NOTE:

The southern entrance to the Green Falls Area (Denison Hill Road) passes through private property, very close to a residence.  Please obey the 10 mph speed limit, respect private landowners and be cautious of pedestrians in the roadway.

All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's) are strictly prohibited in the forest.
