Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Calendar of Events - State Parks Centennial Celebration

The Centennial Kick-Off
The Connecticut State Parks Centennial Celebration was launched on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Dinosaur State Park, Rocky Hill.  

Centennial SoJourn (Summer Outdoor Journey)
The 2nd Annual Summer Outdoor Journey began Saturday, August 9 at American Legion State Forest in Barkhamsted and finished on August 15 at Harkness Memorial State Park.  Participants  biked, paddled and hiked along the route, visiting 10 state parks and forests.
There will be a number of SoJourn activities along the way that are perfect opportunities for families to get outside and join the Centennial celebration.  List of Activities for the Public
The Sky's the Limit
On Saturday, September 13, 2014, concluding the year-long celebration will be an event that will propel Connecticut State Parks into the next century. The event, entitled The Sky’s the Limit, is planned to include hot air balloons, kite flying and demonstrations, model airplanes, astronomy events, bird walks and much more! Please check back for further details. 

Additional Events
Connecticut has 107 parks, each with its own special character and personality. To celebrate such diversity the Centennial committee is highlighting the efforts of Friends, civic groups and other organizations who have helped create more excitement and fun in each State Park.  Check back for new events.
