Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Rocky Neck State Park is also closed until further notice due to a brush fire. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level. The Cover of the 2022 Solid Waste Disposal and Diversion Report

Released April 17, 2024 - 2022 Solid Waste Disposal & Diversion Report

The 2022 Solid Waste Disposal & Diversion Report is intended to quantify the management of solid waste materials generated within the state of Connecticut during the 2022 calendar year. The report provides insight into current waste management practices, analyzes trends, and measures progress towards statutory waste reduction targets. This report provides statewide aggregates based primarily on data submitted by permitted solid waste facilities and transfer stations within the state and supplemented by municipal reporting.

State law and regulations require solid waste and recycling data to be submitted to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) by municipalities and by permitted solid waste facilities via quarterly or annual reports. These facilities include, but are not limited to: transfer stations, resource recovery facilities, landfills, composting facilities, scrap metal facilities, recycling processing facilities, and C&D Volume Reduction Plants.

Source data for the 2022 Solid Waste Disposal & Diversion Report may be requested by contacting Brenna Giannetti at Brenna.Giannetti@ct.gov or 860-424-3536. Municipal level or other additional data may be available upon request.
