MEDIA ADVISORY: Commissioner Dykes to Speak at New Haven Climate Bike Ride October 8
(HARTFORD)— Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Katie Dykes will share an update on the climate crisis in Connecticut and explain how climate policy and legislation can benefit the cycling community ahead of a New Haven Climate Bike Ride Friday, Oct. 8, in New Haven. The ride will be led by the Farmington Canal Rail to Trail Association, the Safe Streets Coalition of New Haven and the Bradley Street Bicycle Co-op.
Commissioner Dykes will also highlight findings from the latest Connecticut Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory and share how cyclists can make a tangible impact in reducing greenhouse gasses.
The 8-mile ride will start at Scantlebury Park (139 Ashmun St, New Haven), and end at College Woods Park (41 Cold Spring St, New Haven). Route information is available here. Those interested in attending should plan to be at the start by 1:30 p.m. Friday. The ride will start following Commissioner Dykes’ remarks. The rain date and time are Friday October 22nd, 10:00 am.
