Governor’s Greenways Council Presents its 4th CT Trails Symposium
The Governor’s Greenways Council, in partnership with Goodwin College, is hosting the fourth Connecticut Trails Symposium for local officials, property owners, managers and volunteers on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the college’s East Hartford Campus.
This annual event is just one way the council highlights and showcases all the ways communities can gather, recreate and support the state’s trail systems. This year’s symposium offers sessions focused on engaging state and local tourism and marketing resources, and using technology to maximize effective delivery of your trail information.
The keynote speaker is Charles Tracy, new coordinator for the Connecticut Trail Census, who will share best practices from his work with the National Park Service that are designed to attract, inspire and welcome new trail users. Other sessions include discussions on:
- The Trail Finder platform and how it’s reshaping access to trails in New England and beyond;
- A facilitated panel of media and marketing professionals meant to inspire and guide you on how best to spread your trail information;
- Mobile tour apps that allow you to harness the power of mobile technology to help your audiences explore, engage, and discover arts and culture in new ways; and
- The CT Trail Census explains what you need to know about your trail users and how to use that to develop an effective plan for marketing and promotion.
After the event, enjoy an easy walking tour along the college’s Riverside Trail or attend a meeting of The Connecticut Trail User Committee, a group of volunteers committed to improving all outdoor recreational opportunities through communication, teamwork and relationship building.
On-line event registration is now open and can be accessed through the CT Trails website: https://cttrails.uconn.edu/2019symposium/
