DEEP headquarters at 79 Elm Street in Hartford is currently closed due to recent water damage impacting multiple areas of the building. We are working to remediate the situation and get the building back open to staff and the public as soon as possible. While the building is closed, Staff continue to work either remotely or in alternate locations. DEEP Euthanizes Black Bear

On Tuesday, June 19, 2018 the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) responded to a residence on Winsted Road in Torrington, CT for a black bear that had entered a home through a screen window. Upon arrival of EnCon the bear was euthanized as it exited the house following DEEP protocol. The bear is a sow, approximately one year old, the agency had not previously had contact with this bear.
