Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. EnCon Investigating Deadly Boating Accident on the Connecticut River

On Friday August 10, 2018 at approximately 3:20 pm the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) responded for a report of a single vessel boating accident on the Connecticut River in the vicinity of Haddam Meadows State Park. Haddam EMS transported one victim, a 64 year old male from Higganum, CT to Middlesex Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The name of victim is not being released at this time. EnCon Police are investigating the accident, no further details will be released this weekend.
