CT DEEP Announces a Public Information Meeting for the Proposed Renovation of the Bantam Lake State Boat Launch in Morris
Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that a public information meeting or “open house” is scheduled from 7:00 -- 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, downstairs at the Morris Town Hall located at 3 East Street, Morris.
This information meeting is to inform all interested parties about the proposed renovations to the Bantam Lake State Boat Launch located at 16 Palmer Road, Morris.
Plans are to reconstruct the launch and make it a state-of-the-art, handicapped accessible facility. The ramp will be replaced with a single, grooved, concrete slab surface along with a separate car top launching area; the handicapped accessible parking spaces, turning areas and approaches will be redesigned and paved, with sidewalks included; concrete pads will be installed at the end of the ramp, and concrete pavers will be installed along the ramp sides to prevent erosion. An ADA accessible, floating dock system will be added to make launching and retrieval of boats safer and more efficient. In addition, a solar powered street light will be installed near the ramp to assist boaters launching or retrieving boats at night, and a protected concrete portable toilet pad will be installed. The Department hopes to begin work on this project within the next couple of years.
Anyone interested in the particulars of this project is invited to attend, look over the design(s), provide comments, and speak with DEEP officials concerning the proposed work.
