• Anti-competitive healthcare issues: The Federal DOJ, HHS, and FTC accept reports of healthcare practices that may harm competition.
• Automobile Repair: For automobile repair issues, you should send your complaint to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). However, if your vehicle has a significant defect, you may qualify for the Lemon Law Program and should send your complaint there instead.
• Banking: The Department of Banking (DOB) handles complaints against banks or other lending institutions, including mortgage lenders.
• Credit cards: DOB handles complaints against credit card companies and others offering consumer credit.
• Debt collectors: DOB handles complaints against collection agencies.
• Insurance: The CT Insurance Department handles insurance-related complaints.
• Moving companies
• Telemarketers located outside Connecticut: For Do Not Call (DNC) violations from out-of-state callers, please file your complaint directly with the Federal Trade Commission’s National Do Not Call Registry.
• Utilities: The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority handles complaints related to utility companies, including electricity, gas, water, and cable.
• Wheelchairs: To report complaints regarding wheelchairs or timely repair issues, get in touch with the Office of the Healthcare Advocate at 1-866-466-4446 (toll-free) or Healthcare.Advocate@ct.gov.
