Travel Agents
Connecticut law does not require travel agents to be licensed.The American Society of Travel Advisors is a private agency that can check out agencies for complaints if the agency is a member. While there is no licensing of travel agents or agencies, they must comply with the Federal Trade Commission regulations.
You may check with the American Society of Travel Advisors to find out about the complaint history of a travel agency before you book travel or make a reservation.

Connecticut Public Act 99-88 prohibits a travel service provider from imposing a surcharge on a travel agent or reducing his commission when a consumer pays for travel services with a credit card. A violation is considered an unfair trade practice.
