Legal Internships
Legal interns are involved in a variety of areas and may be assigned to:

Review case files for legal sufficiency

Draft legal pleadings, such as civil investigative demands, subpoenas, administrative complaints, consent orders, and memoranda

Attend and participate in compliance meetings, formal administrative hearings, investigatory hearings, and legislative and regulatory public hearings

Draft proposed administrative decisions after formal administrative hearings

Assist in drafting and revising regulations or legislative proposals

Conduct legal research on a variety of topics and draft legal memoranda
The Legal office provides in-house legal support services to the Department of Consumer Protection through administrative actions such as hearings, agreements containing consent orders, assurances of voluntary compliance, civil investigative demands and subpoenas.
This unit has frequent contact with federal officials, other state agencies, the public and regulated parties.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an unpaid internship, for college credit only. Candidate must be in law school.
