RE:          DOCKET NO. 279 – Sprint Spectrum, L.P. d/b/a Sprint PCS application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for the construction, maintenance and operation of a wireless telecommunications facility at 530 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury, Connecticut. 

The Connecticut Siting Council (Council) staff has scheduled a field review for this proceeding on Thursday, March 11, 2004, beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Council members will meet at the proposed site in the parking area behind (east) of the store buildings at the Simsbury Commons Mall.  A 120-foot balloon will be flown at the proposed site.

Directions are enclosed.

A public hearing is scheduled for the same day, Thursday, March 11, 2004, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Main Meeting Room of the Simsbury Town Offices, 933 Hopmeadow Street (Route 10/202), Simsbury, Connecticut.

DIRECTIONS TO THE PROPOSED SITE –

From Areas South of Simsbury:

Ø      Locate Route 10 in Plainville or Farmington and Proceed on Route 10 to intersection Route 44 in Avon.

Ø      Turn left (west) onto Route 44 in Avon.

Ø      Proceed on Route 44 to intersection with Route 167 in Simsbury.

Ø      Turn right (north) onto Route 167 (Bushy Hill Road).

The Simsbury Commons Mall entrance is on the right.  Proceed through the Mall’s parking lots eastward to the balloon flying in the parking area behind the loading docks of the stores.

From Areas East of Simsbury:

Ø      From Interstate 84 in Farmington, take exit 39 West onto Route 4.

Ø      Proceed on Route 4 to intersection with Route 167 in the Unionville section of Farmington.

Ø      Follow Route 167 right (north) through Avon and straight through the traffic light, crossing Route 44 in Simsbury.

Ø      Turn right from Route 167 into Simsbury Commons Mall and proceed as above.

DIRECTIONS TO SIMSBURY TOWN OFFICES FROM THE PROPOSED SITE:

Ø      Turn right (north) onto Route 167 (Bushy Hill Road) and proceed until intersection with Route 309 (West Street) in Simsbury.

Ø      Turn right onto Route 309 to intersection with Routes 10/202 (Hopmeadow Street).

Ø      Turn left onto Routes 10/202 and proceed past the Fire Station to the Simsbury Town Offices on the left. The hearing will be in the Main Meeting Room.
