We maintain transparency and fairness in CT’s correctional system

The Correction Ombudsman helps incarcerated people, their families, lawmakers, and residents with issues related to the Department of Correction (DOC). We investigate complaints, monitor conditions, and advocate for reform within CT's correctional facilities. We also protect the rights and well-being of those in DOC facilities.

Our Office is responsible for many important duties. We aim to improve the correctional system and protect the rights of incarcerated individuals. Every day, we:

  • Investigate complaints
  • Monitor conditions
  • Advocate for systemic reforms
