Customized Employment (CE) is a way to find competitive integrated employment. CE focuses on the strengths, skills, and abilities of individuals with significant disabilities with the needs of employers. It is a person-centered process for job seekers who may need more support for career and job direction.

CE is made up of of three primary phases:

  • job discovery
  • job development, negotiation and placement
  • post-employment supports.

CE is a collaboration between the Department of Developmental Services, the Department of Aging and Disability Services and Connecticut State Dept of Education to expand these services across Connecticut.
