Customized Employment (CE) helps people with significant disabilities find good jobs. It focuses on each person’s strengths, skills, and abilities, and matches them with what employers need.
This program is designed for people who may need extra support when choosing a career or finding a job.
CE has three main steps:
- Job discovery: learning about the person’s skills, interests, and goals
-
Job development and placement: finding or creating a job that fits the person and working with employers
-
Post-employment supports: giving support after the person starts the job to help them succeed
CE is a team effort between the Department of Developmental Services, the Department of Aging and Disability Services, and the Connecticut State Department of Education. Together, they work to offer these services across Connecticut.
