The Level Up Program helps students learn the skills, get the training, and find the resources they need to succeed in jobs and become more independent. The program works with schools, families, and the community to give students with an IEP, 504 plan, or other special education services new opportunities. The goal is to help students ages 16–22 get ready to find their place in the world.
Services the Program Provides
Level Up offers pre-employment services, including:
- Job Exploration – Learn about different careers and jobs
- Counseling for Post-Secondary Education – Get guidance about college or vocational school
- Work-Based Learning Experience – Gain real work experience
- Work Readiness Training – Learn skills needed for jobs
- Self-Advocacy – Learn to speak up for yourself and your needs
Who Can Participate
Students ages 16–22 who may be eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation Services and currently have an IEP, 504 Plan, or documented disability. Students must be in a high school or post-secondary program.

Getting started
Interested students can speak to their high school counselor or designated high school personnel. They can also contact the nearest Rehabilitation Services office to learn more
Best time to connect
- The best time is about two years before high school graduation.
- Students under 16 may also speak with a Level Up Counselor if there are special circumstances.
How services are delivered
Level Up services are provided by Level Up Counselors or community rehabilitation providers. Services can happen at school or in the community, during or after school.
In a student's final year of high school
During the final year, the Level Up Counselor talks with the student about applying for Vocational Rehabilitation Services. If the student wants to apply, the counselor helps with the process.
