GOV. MALLOY, LT. GOV. WYMAN, ON BEHALF OF STATE OF CONNECTICUT, HOLD MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR VICTIMS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, on behalf of the State of Connecticut, will hold a memorial service for the state's victims of September 11, 2001 at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. The sculpture made in part from aluminum cladding from the World Trade Center will also be unveiled, honoring those the state lost. In addition, an American flag that flew over Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam in Afghanistan will be presented to the state by the 1st Battalion 102nd Infantry Regiment. Family members of those who were killed on 9/11 will join the memorial service, and each victim's name will be read aloud.
The service will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.
