LT. GOVERNOR WYMAN TO WELCOME HOME TROOPS

IN WINDSOR LOCKS MARCH 1st

(HARTFORD, CT) - Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman will welcome home the 247 th Engineer unit tomorrow afternoon in Windsor Locks.

The detachment was mobilized and departed Connecticut in March 2010 and traveled to its mobilization station at Camp Shelby, Miss. for training. The unit was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. This was the second deployment to Southwest Asia for the detachment, which previously served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from March 2003 to April 2004. This unit has also previously participated in humanitarian missions in Central and South America.
