Interagency Drought Workgroup

The Interagency Drought Workgroup (IDW) is the entity responsible for actively monitoring water conditions and recommending drought declarations and mitigation actions to the Office of the Governor and state agency commissioners, under the authority of the WPC in accordance with the Connecticut Drought Preparedness and Response Plan.
 
Connecticut's Interagency Drought Workgroup (IDW) consists of representatives from the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Public Health, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Office of Policy and Management, and the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority. The members of the IDW are as follows: 
  • Martin L. Heft, Chairman - Office of Policy and Management (OPM)
  • Ken Dumais - Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) / Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP)
  • Melissa Fahnestock - Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)
  • Simon Levesque - Department of Agriculture
  • Eric Lindquist - Department of Public Health (DPH)
  • Maria Szul - Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA)

Meeting Schedule

The Interagency Drought Workgroup meetings are held monthly on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 PM unless specified otherwise. Meeting agenda and minutes are available at State Agency Public Meeting Calendar under Water Planning Council.
