Sensible Assessment Smarter Balanced Tools for Teachers - Back to Basics

Smarter Balanced Tools for Teachers is a free online collection of instructional and professional learning formative assessment resources aligned with the Common Core State Standards for English language arts/literacy and mathematics. Tools for Teachers offers instructional resources that provide subject- and grade-specific content based on learning standards. Each resource is vetted by trained educators using quality criteria and includes recommended instructional strategies for meeting diverse student needs. Sensible Assessment Individual Student Report Electronic Distribution

Beginning in 2027, the CSDE Performance Office will be distributing student score reports for Smarter Balanced, NGSS, and the Connecticut Alternate Assessments exclusively in a PDF format (not in paper format) so districts can then distribute them electronically. The Performance Office has been distributing these student score reports in PDF for several years and some districts have been distributing reports to parents electronically via tools such as ParentSquare, SchoolMessenger,PowerSchool Parent Portal, Infinite Campus Digital Backpack, and Conductor Plus.Would your district like to learn from districts that are using these tools to distribute the reports electronically?Please register for this webinar and join usas several districts outline how they distribute reports electronically using these tools.

Non-Standard Uses of Smarter Balanced/NGSS Interim Assessments and District Sharing (Recorded Version)

This virtual meeting will provide an overview of some of the non-standard uses of the Smarter Balanced Interim Assessments. There will be a demonstration of the various ways the interim assessments can be used other than just formally  administering them to students and analyzing results. Connecticut educators will share their experiences implementing interims in non-standard ways.

Tools for Teachers and District   Sharing  (Recorded Version)  

In this virtual meeting, participants will learn about Tools for Teachers (T4T), a free, online collection of resources aligned with the Connecticut Core Standards in Mathematics and English Language Arts. These resources support K–12 teachers in their use of the formative assessment process to adjust teaching and improve  learning for all students. Connecticut educators will share their experiences and suggestions related to T4T.

This virtual meeting will provide an update on the new item clusters and        stand-alone items added to the NGSS Interims in December 2023. Additionally,   participants will review resources and updated information to support the use of the NGSS Interims. Connecticut educators will share strategies that incorporate the NGSS Interim Assessments as tools to inform curriculum and instruction.
