Gov. Malloy Applauds United States Senate for Voting to Preserve Net Neutrality

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy is hailing the U.S. Senate for voting to overturn the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) rule gutting net neutrality. All Senate Democrats were joined by three Republicans to pass the measure, which now goes on to the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The FCC’s net neutrality decision was a brazen attack on the principles of a free and open internet and it should absolutely be overturned by the Congress,” Governor Malloy said. “Today’s Senate vote represents real progress toward a national solution. I applaud Senators Blumenthal and Murphy for their leadership on this issue. It is telling that while every Senate Democrat supported this no-brainer legislation, Republicans presented near-unanimous opposition. It is now up to House Republicans to join their Democratic colleagues in standing up for their constituents and protecting net neutrality.”
