THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS FARMINGTON RIVER TRAIL CEREMONY IN CANTON; CONTINUES ON JOBS TOUR IN NEW HAVEN
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend a ceremony to commemorate the opening of a stretch of the Farmington River Trail in Canton. Final construction of a three-phase project on the section that travels a former rail line on the Farmington River from Unionville through Canton has been completed, connecting neighborhoods along the Farmington Valley Greenway and the Multi-Use Trail to two shopping areas and municipal centers.
On Thursday afternoon, Governor Malloy will make two stops on his Jobs Tour in New Haven. At noon, the Governor and Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will meet with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce for a roundtable discussion concerning competitiveness issues and ways to strengthen the business climate in the region.
At 1:45 p.m., Governor Malloy and Commissioner Smith will visit with the executives and staff of Assa Abloy and Sargent Manufacturing at their facility in New Haven. Assa Abloy, Sargent's parent company, is the world's leading lock manufacturer and has over 1,000 employees in Connecticut. Its Americas division is headquartered in New Haven.
